Collagen Stimulation for Firmer and Younger Skin
Collagen is the structural protein that gives skin its firmness, elasticity, and plumpness, and which we produce less and less of from the age of twenty-five. It's not a dramatic overnight change, but after years of gradual reduction, it becomes noticeable: fine lines, sagging skin, and pores that appear larger. Stimulating the production of this protein is the foundation of effective anti-aging and one of the most prioritized aspects of professional skincare. At SKNLÛX, you will find a carefully curated selection from leading K-beauty brands.
Read more about Collagen
Collagen is a structural protein that makes up eighty percent of the skin's dry weight and provides its mechanical strength and elasticity. In the skin, types I, III, and IV dominate, with type I providing firmness, type III contributing to elasticity, and type IV forming the basement membranes. The substance is produced by fibroblasts in the dermis and is gradually broken down by enzymes activated by UV radiation, oxidative stress, and aging. Topical application of hydrolyzed protein in skincare primarily provides a moisture-binding and film-forming effect, while stimulation of production is more effectively achieved with ingredients such as retinol, peptides, adenosine, and vitamin C. These ingredients signal to fibroblasts to increase their activity and reduce the activation of protein-degrading enzymes. In Korean skincare, this stimulation is combined with protective antioxidants and active barrier care for best results. Results are built up gradually with consistent use over twelve weeks or longer; patience is key.
