Niacinamide is a water-soluble vitamin B3 derivative with an exceptionally broad spectrum of action. The substance reduces the appearance of enlarged pores by increasing skin elasticity and tightening pore walls. It inhibits melanin transport from melanocytes to keratinocytes, providing gradual brightening and a more even skin tone without directly inhibiting melanin formation. At the same time, it stimulates the production of ceramides, fatty acids, and other barrier lipids, which strengthens the stratum corneum and significantly reduces transepidermal water loss. Its anti-inflammatory effect, via inhibition of the NF-κB signaling pathway, makes it effective against acne, rosacea, and reactive skin. Furthermore, the substance counteracts the breakdown of collagen and elastin, improving skin elasticity and firmness. In Korean skincare, it is combined with zinc, hyaluronic acid, and retinol for synergistic effects. Regular application leads to a more even skin tone, visibly reduced pores, and strengthened barrier function. The fact that it combines all these mechanisms of action with minimal risk of allergies makes it one of the safest and most cost-effective additions to a daily skincare routine.
