Panthenol
Soothing and moisturizing vitamin B5 for the skin
Panthenol is found in almost every well-formulated skincare product, and for good reason. Provitamin B5 easily penetrates the skin, converts to pantothenic acid, and drives the skin's natural repair and hydration from within. It soothes irritation, heals microscopic damage, and rebuilds the barrier with a gentleness that makes it tolerated by virtually all skin types. It is one of those ingredients that deserves a permanent place in every skincare routine regardless of skin type and age. At SKNLÛX, you will find a carefully curated selection from leading K-beauty brands.

Panthenol is a provitamin of pantothenic acid (vitamin B5) and acts as both a humectant and a skin-healing agent. It easily penetrates the stratum corneum and is enzymatically converted to pantothenic acid, a cofactor in cellular metabolism and tissue repair. The substance stimulates fibroblast proliferation and migration, which accelerates the healing of superficial skin damage and irritations. As a humectant, it binds water molecules and helps the skin retain moisture and softness for a long time. It strengthens the barrier function by stimulating lipid synthesis and reducing transepidermal water loss, and reduces inflammation by inhibiting pro-inflammatory cytokines. It is one of the few active ingredients that combines hydration, healing, and anti-irritation without the risk of allergic reactions. In Korean skincare, it is combined with centella asiatica, allantoin, and niacinamide in barrier-repairing formulations. Regular application results in visibly softer, more resilient skin with improved elasticity and reduced sensitivity to external stressors.
