Vitamin C
Brightening and antioxidant protection for the skin
Vitamin C is the skin's most important antioxidant and one of the most well-studied active ingredients in the entire history of skincare. It protects against free radical damage, stimulates collagen synthesis, and inhibits melanin production in one molecular complex. The only problem is that it is notoriously unstable in formulations, but Korean skincare has solved this with smart derivatives and encapsulation techniques that make it stable and accessible for all skin types. At SKNLÛX, you will find a wide range from leading K-beauty brands.

Vitamin C in skincare comes in several forms with different stability and penetration capabilities. The pure form, ascorbic acid, is the most bioactive but easily oxidizes and can irritate sensitive skin at high concentrations. The substance acts as a cofactor in collagen synthesis and stimulates the production of type I and III collagen in the dermis. It inhibits tyrosinase activity and reduces melanin formation, leading to gradual brightening and a more even skin tone. The antioxidant effect neutralizes superoxide radicals and inhibits lipid peroxidation of skin cell membranes. In Korean skincare, derivatives such as ascorbyl glucoside and sodium ascorbyl phosphate are used, which are more stable but are enzymatically converted to the active form in the skin. It is synergistically combined with vitamin E and ferulic acid for a triply enhanced antioxidant effect. Regular application provides visibly more even skin tone, increased radiance, and strengthened protection against photoaging and environmentally induced skin damage. Consistent daily application in the morning during UV exposure provides the best cumulative protection.
